“I will astonish Paris with an apple.” – Paul Cézanne
The 4th hour Art I class completed their first painting project this week by rendering an apple in tempera paint. If you’ve ever used tempera, you certainly know how temperamental this particular medium can be. Click here to see some of the student work.
Take a minute to view some of the “Barbie Doll Projects” from the 1st hour Art III class, which was introduced as an introductory study into contemporary art. These dolls are also on display in the front glass display case of Yukon High School by the front offices.
Congratulations to Brooke Adams whose sculpture, Smoke Spout, was selected for the 2015 National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition in Providence, Rhode Island. Brooke’s sculpture will be on display March 25 – 27 during the National Council on Education of the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference in Providence. There were 1,409 submissions to this year’s contest (1,209 from high school students) and only 150 works were selected for the exhibition.
The Art I class recently completed their “Abstract Self-Portrait” project and there are quite a few examples from the 4th hour class. Take a moment to see if you recognize any of the students!
