The students in Art III studied Oklahoma State University professor Angela Piehl’s drawings which she refers to as “Feral Bouquets.” In these drawings, Piehl references organic materials such as flesh, hair, tentacles, eggs, fat, bone, muscle, crystalline structures, and wood that appear next to her choices of color, pattern, and texture. The students in the 2nd and 7th hour Art III courses were required to create a collage from magazines that emphasized movement as well as a variety of textures. After these collages were created, the students had to replicate their collage in pencil by demonstrating a variety of values, textures, and lines. Below are examples of this project with the students’ pencil drawing shown first and the collage shown as the next image.
