YHS Seniors Capture Top Spots in Senior Portfolio Competition and Other Award Recognitions

Congratulations to Yukon High School seniors Olivia Walker, Paige Nguyen, Zachary Matthews, and Raymond Bui, whose art portfolios placed amongst the top 10 students in Oklahoma in the annual Young Talent in Oklahoma Senior Portfolio competition! Olivia Walker (1st place) and Paige Nguyen (2nd place) will both receive scholarship awards to continue their post-secondary studies next year. Zachary Matthews (5th place) and Raymond Bui (10th place) also placed as finalists. Yukon High School has had 12 senior portfolio finalists in the past eight years, which leads all high schools in the state of Oklahoma. In the “general entries” section of Young Talent in Oklahoma, senior Zachary Matthews received one of four Judges’ Choice awards, and senior Jules Black received an Honorable Mention. Olivia Walker, Paige Nguyen, Rachel Binstock, Logan Smith, Lindsay Loeffelholz, Kylie Mass, Harper Barlow, and Katy Clifft also had works selected for this competition. Juniors Lindsay Loeffelholz and Kylie Mass were recently awarded the 2021 State Superintendent Award for Arts Excellence for visual art and will be honored by the Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister, in a virtual ceremony in May. Oklahoma high school juniors and seniors are eligible for the award, which honors individual achievements in the fine arts. Congratulations to both Lindsay and Kylie!
