Art III Charcoal Self-Portraits and the Art II Mosaic

The students in the 2nd hour Art III course recently completed a self-portraiture study incorporating foreshortening through the use of the charcoal medium. Click here to see examples of these drawings.

The 1st and 6th hour Art II classes worked together to create a 6′ x 4′ mosaic mural of artist Vincent van Gogh. The mosaic consists of 3,528 magazine squares that measure 1″ x 1″ each, and each student had to complete one “section” that consisted of 63 squares. The mosaic will hang in the Yukon High School library later this week.

This is the fourth large scale mosaic that the Art II classes have created, with Yayoi Kusuma (2018), Jean-Michel Basquiat (2017), and Frida Kahlo (2016) currently on display in the YHS Library.
