New Art I and Art II Collage Artwork

Students in the Art I and Art II classes recently completed collage projects, with each project resulting in a different approach to artistic imagery. The 3rd and 6th hour Art I classes focused on the Principles of Design, Rhythm and Movement, to create abstract collages on 12″ x 12″ paper. Click here to see some of these examples from Art I.

Mr. Payne’s 1st hour Art II class and Mrs. Adams 6th hour Art II class worked together to create a 72″ x 49″ portrait mural of contemporary artist, Yayoi Kusama. Each student created a 7″ x 9″ section of the collage using square pieces of magazine paper. Kusama is arguably most known for her Infinity Mirror Rooms that have been installed in a multitude of museums throughout the world. The Infinity Mirror Rooms will begin the last stop of its tour in Atlanta, Georgia at the High Museum of Art from November 18 – February 17, 2019.

The portrait of Yayoi Kusama is the third mural portrait created by the Art II classes at Yukon High School and is on display in the YHS library alongside portraits of Frida Kahlo and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
