Student Wins Gold Medal in Scholastic Competition and Momentum OKC This Weekend

Congratulations to junior Hannah Tetts who recently won a Gold Medal Award at the national level in the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! Nearly 330,000 works from grades 7 – 12 were submitted into this years’ national competition. The Oklahoma regional “Gold Key” winners then had their work submitted at the national level, where the adjudication took place in New York City. Only 28 of the Oklahoma regional Gold Key works were recognized at the national level with either a Silver or Gold Medal Award. Hannah’s painting was only one of three Gold Medal winners representing the state of Oklahoma in the “painting” category of the selected 28 works. Hannah along with the other national winners will be honored in a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York on June 8. Her pai
nting will also be sent to New York where it will be part of a two-year traveling exhibition displaying the Gold Medal artwork.

Don’t forget to checkout the 16th annual Momentum exhibition this Friday and Saturday from 8 – 11 pm. Junior Tien Tran was only one of two high school students selected for the exhibition, which will be in the Plaza District on 16th street in Oklahoma City, with the artwork displayed and music performed in the Graphite, District House, The Venue OKC, and DNA Galleries. Tickets are only $10 each and can be used either night. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets online.
