AP Drawing/Painting (Concentration)

What is the central idea of your concentration?

I decided to do my concentration theme over all of the places I’ve travelled to. Travelling the world has always been an escape, because you get to leave everything bad in your real life behind, and you get to experience new feelings and emotions out in the world. When you return to your real life, you know you can always return back to that place and re-experience everything all over again.

How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? (Specific images are referenced by the image numbers)

I carefully selected my color palette to represent my mood when I visited these places. Goa, India (1), Santa Monica (2), & South Padre (3) were places with calm waters, but also gave me a very happy feeling, so I used warm colors to contrast against the blues. Savannah, Georgia (4) would appear to be peaceful, but when I went, there were a lot of people and chaos, so I used brighter, vibrant contrasting colors in the sky to resemble my emotions. Lake Texoma (5), Kerala, India (6), & San Antonio (7) were very peaceful and calming, so I used cooler colors, like greens and blues. Karnataka, India (8) & Houston (9) however, were more solemn but still busy, so I used soft yet contrasting color schemes. Times Square (10), Orlando (11), & Las Vegas (12) were just very happy, loud places with great memories so I used a lot of bright, beautiful colors. Also, I changed the landscape set up to a collage to represent the myriad of sites and colors in Orlando (11) & Las Vegas (12).
