Congratulations goes out to Tien Tran who earned two major art recognitions this week. She was selected to exhibit one of her works in the 2017 Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s “Momentum” exhibition, which will be held March 24-25 in various art galleries in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City.
Momentum is for Oklahoma’s up-and-coming film, performance, new media, 2D, and installation artists under the age of 30. Over 350 works were submitted for judging, but only 101 were accepted into the show.
She is only one of two high school students represented in Momentum this year, with the majority of the artists being upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, professors, or professional artists. Yukon High School has now had five students selected for Momentum in the past three consecutive years.
Tien also captured the “Best in Show” award for the annual Young People’s Art Exhibit held at the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center in Oklahoma City. To reward her for her achievement, Sargent Art will award her with a $1,500 cash prize and will donate $2,000 in art supplies to Yukon High School.
